Annie Oakley Shooters Fall Classic

Hosted by the Annie Oakley Shooters of Northern Illinois, the Fall Classic was one of the first ever women’s only sporting clay competitions in the state. With a sold-out roster and attendees traveling from up to 1,000 miles away, it was clear that the group had found niche in high demand.

In order to capitalize on this sold-out event, Grit captured photo and video content throughout the entire day—covering registration, preparations, competition, and awards ceremonies to ensure that the AOS would have a wealth of high-quality assets to help promote future events, jump start their social media content, and build out their website.

To effectively showcase the Annie Oakley Shooters brand, content needed to focus on catching authentic moments that reflected the true spirit of the event. This meant being ready not only for moments of success celebrated with high-fives and fist bumps, but also catching instances of competitive drive, frustration, and supportive encouragement. For the production team, this created some challenges, one being a lot of constant action to seamlessly cover, while the biggest was the large footprint of the event. Fortunately, with the aid of a cart, we were able to start at the end of the course (since the event utilized a shotgun start) and work our way back around to the beginning. The logic behind this decision was to make sure we crossed paths with every group of competitors at least once, even if we ran short of time to visit every station.

By covering ground quickly and keeping a close eye on a shot list, we were able to provide AOS with a comprehensive library, not only covering but exceeding the list of deliverables.
